A prayer poem for anyone feeling uneasy or wobbly—navigating new terrain around grief.
The ache in my body (heart?) feels big.
It feels insurmountable.
The (My?) world’s rotation feels wobbly.
I feel nauseas and needy.
What might enter here love?
What can flow in?
(Pause)
Breathe, love.
Let love meet you here.
She wraps you, holds your head in her hands.
Be here,
Eye to eye,
Forehead to forehead,
With love.
In this time of ache, wobbly-ness, nausea,
Love meets you.
Breathes with you.
You will find your sea legs,
Now that you’ve left land.
This will be your home.
You will adapt
You will find beauty
In groundlessness
You will know the deep abyss
And beautiful sunrises
You will know storms
And still waters
You will develop new muscles
(When you felt you were drowning.)
You will find unexpected refuge
At sea.
