As Winter surrenders to Spring I find myself in gratitude.
A sense of having “made it” through the darkness.
In the final weeks of waiting for the blossoms to emerge (yes I see them starting!)
I painted a beloved Jade plant.

Plants indoors help me to feel alive and hopeful.
There is a lot of movement in my life right now.
I get still and feel where the stresses and anxieties of this time are located,
I find them in my belly—almost a motion sickness from all the recent and imminent change.

My aspiration is to trust in the flow of energy.
Just as the seasons and tides are beyond my control.
So is the movement of my life and my children’s lives (and my parents, siblings, friends and coworkers for that matter).

What does it look like to breathe?
To believe in a goodness that moves through each of us?
May my life (and yours) be as resilient, patient, and beautiful as this precious Jade plant.

May we remember the goodness that moves through us no matter the season.
