This painting, Trust the Energy of Becoming, inspired by a Jade plant—arrived with ease and delight.

Before beginning, I wrote a note of intention, “May I be open to all that will be.”

Upon reflection, this prayer seems to be more confronting than comforting!

Am I open to joy?
Am I open to the difficulties?
Am I open to expansion?
Am I open to contractions?

What would it look like to shift into a mode of being that was open to life as it unfolded? What if I trust who I was becoming? What if I gave up responsibility for controlling all (or any) outcomes and just showed up as wholeheartedly as I could?

Perhaps it would feel like how it feels to be near a mature Jade plant like this one. Fragile and yet strong. After completing this painting, I googled Jade's symbolism, I learned that she attracts wealth, growth and renewal. Perhaps the message of prosperity this plant brings is not so much about material wealth, but the wealth of a life lived fully integrated and open to it all.
