Return to Your Original Cadence
Return to Your Original Cadence
Where do you find equanimity? Where do you find home? Where do you release tension from your shoulders without even trying? Where do you exhale?
For me, it is here, along the creek's edge. Whatever the weather is doing (and whatever is happening in my life), the gentle movements of leaves, branches, and tiny animals soften something in me.
Nothing is needed beyond the cadence of nature. The moving stream reminds me of the movement in my life. Francis Weller speaks beautifully to how one of the core experiences of grief we navigate as humans is our disconnection from nature. He implores us to return, to reconnect with this part we have become so estranged from. Weller says, "We must recall the original cadence of our souls." And we do this in nature. He goes on, "This sweet medicine is available to each of us, offered by the earth without reservation or deserving."
This large scale stream inspired piece is a witness to this cadence in our souls, a reminder of the places we can return to and remember. The cool color palette is calming the movement of spring is palpable.
