Peace as Birthright no. 1
Peace as Birthright no. 1
Nature picks me up and dusts me off, reminding me to stay grounded and to soar. A gentle whisper is present in the cold rain of January just as it is in the warm beachside sunrise, reminding me, "Be here, now." When I step outside, everything is alive and moving. Every detail of the whole world mirrors the resilience and hope that is possible within.
I have felt deep peace lately alongside flashes of profound ache, fear, and all the things. I'm beyond grateful to spend time at the canvas meditating on nature, life, loss, dreams. Again and again I see the beauty and the movement.
In my studio surrounded by ocean paintings in progress I heard a podcast interview. I had to stop painting and capture the beauty when Sonya Renee Taylor said this,
"The same force that decided there should be daisies and butterflies and the river Nile and sunrises also decided there should be YOU. If we can connect to the sense that the most stunning sunset we ever saw is made of the same material reality of our own beingness. How is that not miraculous? How is that not phenomenal? How does that not move us to awe and wonder?"
Yes. This. Surely the peace and movement we see is resonant with the peace and movement present within us.
