Momentary Bliss
Momentary Bliss
Inspired by the Pennypack Nature Preserve, I often ran past this scene on the spring mornings, with the light bursting through. Pausing to take it all in, I hope this painting captures a time of reflection, gratitude, and the courage to wholeheartedly enjoy life as it is, fleeting and beautiful.
The creek is my teacher, helping me to adjust and orient to constant motion, She whispers, "Yes, everything is changing," and she assures me that it's okay. "Here what is momentary is blissful."
The leaves rustle gently, a heron glides through the air, the water splashes on the rocks, subtly changing, a leaf floats downstream, and insects hover nearby. And here I am, sitting, my breath moving, my cells working wonders, my heart stirring. I remember, not just that this is a moment of bliss, but that all beauty and joy (and heartache and suffering) is fleeting.
Can you describe for me any bliss in your life that is not momentary? Perhaps the intense beauty of our lives is because life is constantly moving (not in spite of it).
