Would I vow to not lose joy?

Would I vow to practice wonder?

But also might I vow not to despair

Not to hate my neighbor

Not to live in fear.

Will I vow to stay connected to my heart?

Would I vow to remember beauty?

Maybe the simple practice of pausing in the face of unexpected beauty--a particularly poignant sunrise, the glimmer of light on snow, a cute position of your dog sleeping, the smile of a stranger, a rose bloom the colors of a sunset—might restore your energy for the work of living.
