I've been studying (again) Pema Chodron's classic work, "When Things Fall Apart." Meanwhile I've been painting apple blossoms.

As I finished the apple blossoms today, I smiled thinking that 'when things fall apart' brings to mind difficult situations, and yet when I sit with the apple blossom I know that these blossoms 'falling apart' is beautiful and imminent.

The lesson of each blooming tree seems to be silent and clear: Be in the exquisite beauty of this moment. Know that it will fall away. Remember that the beauty here will return again in new forms.

When I look at this apple blossom I think of this connection to joy, this innermost essence in each of us, and I will smile.
