Bells of Awakening
Bells of Awakening
Inspired by pieris japonica, it was a delight to create this study of clusters of bell flowers draped over the patterned leaves on a deep navy background. I realized what I love most about this plant is that to really appreciate it you have to get up close, slow down and experience the whimsy of each blossom.
What if each blossom is a tiny bell of awakening? What if each blossom is reminding us to return to the present moment, calling us to look closely, inviting us to release past regret and let go of anticipation of pain, and gently bidding us to hear and feel the vibration, the energy, the beauty and the heartache of this present moment?
